Nazareno Malegarie Lightweight Nazareno Malegarie had three chances to win a tournament under Bellator’s previous leadership regime, so when he was cast on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 4,” his hopes were high for a fresh start. Malegarie, an Argentinian whose father got him into tae kwondo at 4, won a spot in the house with a second-round TKO of Andre Ricardo. But in a subsequent fight against Fernando Bruno, he was outworked to lose via unanimous decision and eliminated from the show. “Even today, I’m sad when I think about it,” Malegarie told MMAjunkie. “I know that I’m much better than what I showed in the house. On fight day, I wasn’t able to prove myself.” A fight against Joaquim Silva (7-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at today’s UFC 191 represents not just another chance for Malegarie (28-3 MMA, 0-0 UFC), who was denied the six-figure payouts and title shots that come with Bellator tournament wins, but a little bit of deja vu: Silva was his bunkmate on the show
