Filed under: Bellator , Featured , Featured Videos , News , Videos For the fifth time in his past seven fights, Josh Thomson got to get in the cage in his home city of San Jose, Calif. And for the second straight time, he’s been impressive with the results – both in his new Bellator home. On Friday, less than three months after a promotional debut submission win over Mike Bronzoulis at Bellator 142, Thomson (22-8 MMA, 2-0 BMMA) took out Pablo Villaseca (10-2 MMA, 0-2 BMMA) in the first round with a TKO. The lightweight fight headlined Bellator 147, which aired on Spike from San Jose State University Event Center. Check out the highlights, which upped Thomson’s record in front of his home fans to 9-4, including bouts under the Strikeforce, UFC and Bellator banners. The highlights also include Daniel Weichel (36-9 MMA, 5-1 BMMA) cruising past Georgi Karakhanyan (24-5-1 MMA, 2-3 BMMA) in a key featherweight bout; Derek Anderson (13-2 MMA, 4-2 BMMA) edging out Patricky Freire (14-7 MMA, 7-6 BMMA) with a split decision in a rematch; a dominant – and bloody – submission win for Adam Piccolotti (7-0 MMA, 3-0 BMMA) against Mario Soto (6-2 MAMA, 0-1 BMMA); and, to open the main card, a fantastic submission win for Brian Rogers (12-8 MMA, 5-6 BMMA) in his move to light heavyweight against Virgil Zwicker (14-5-1 MMA, 3-1-1 BMMA).
