Julia Budd Despite a four-fight winning streak with Invicta FC, Julia Budd believes her career will be best served in the newly formed Bellator MMA women’s featherweight division. “I feel like we would have been dumb not to sign with them,” Budd told MMAjunkie. “They told us about what they’re planning to do with our weight division and I thought this was perfect for me. It’s going to be a nice change up.” While the majority of attention on women’s fighting revolves around the bantamweight and strawweight divisions because of their place under the UFC banner, the 145-pound weight class is quite solid, as well. UFC officials have stated the addition of a featherweight class is unlikely in the near future, so that opened the door for Bellator to pursue the top talent the division has to offer. Budd believes she’s a member of that group, which is why the organization signed her to debut Feb.
