After re-signing with the UFC, heavyweight Alistair Overeem says he’ll next fight on his adopted home soil. The former Strikeforce champion announced Monday he’s headlining UFC Fight Night 87, which takes place at Ahoy Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Shortly after tweeting a picture of signing his new contract, Overeem (40-14 MMA, 5-3 UFC) posted the UFC’s promo picture for the event, which marks the promotion’s first trip to the country, and added, “and yes, I will be headlining UFC Rotterdam!” The UFC has yet to confirm Overeem for the event, though his presence is a no-brainer for the promotion. Although born in London, Overeem, who’s ranked No. 7 in the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA heavyweight rankings , moved to the Netherlands when he was 5 and got his start in kickboxing in Amsterdam. He later moved to Amersfoort, where he trained for fights before moving to America to train with the Blackzilians team and later Jackson-Winkeljohn MMA
