Just four fights into his MMA career, the powerhouse forced his way into the UFC and after just three wins inside the octagon, found himself competing for gold. After going 1-1 with Israel Adesanya for the middleweight title, Alex Pereira decided to move up to light heavyweight and attempt to capture a belt in a second division. A split-decision victory over Jan Blachowicz earned him his chance and he took it with open arms. With less than a minute remaining in his fan-favorite clash against Jiri Prochazka, ‘Poatan’ landed a left hook and subsequent strikes to capture the light heavyweight throne .
