Former light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka and former middleweight titleholder Alex Pereira clashed in the UFC 295 main event with the vacant 205-pound title on the line. Prochazka captured the title at UFC 275 in June 2022 by submitting Glover Teixeira late in the final round. He later relinquished the belt after suffering a debilitating shoulder injury in order to not hold up the division. He’s fully recovered now and wants the title back. Pereira moved up to the light heavyweight division after losing the middleweight championship to the man he won it from, Israel Adesanya .
