Poirier (17-4 MMA, 9-3 UFC) pasted Diego Ferreira (11-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) for a first-round knockout to open the main card of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 63 at Patriot Center in Fairfax, Va. After fighting at lightweight the first nine fights of his career, Poirier moved to featherweight when he came to the UFC. But the weight cut, he told MMAjunkie at the post-event news conference, was so hard on him that right now, he can’t imagine going back down after coming back to lightweight.
