MONTREAL – Firas Zahabi is excited about the opportunity to welcome former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley into Tristar Gym ahead of his next fight. Woodley (19-4-1 MMA, 9-3-1 UFC) recently revealed he’s formed something of a bond with Zahabi, who is the head coach of the Montreal-based gym. Woodley is still working with Roufusport but said he plans to go north to get some work in with Zahabi and other notable members of the team such as Georges St-Pierre and Rory MacDonald. The relationship with Woodley was somewhat unexpected, Zahabi said. The two crossed paths at a UFC show earlier this year, and things came together organically from there. “We worked out together at a UFC event,” Zahabi told MMA Junkie.
