The former UFC featherweight champion, who had concluded her contract with the company but was in a period of exclusive negotiation, was released from the that commitment by the UFC in early August, after a rift with president Dana White. The two verbally sparred in the weeks leading up to the final bout of her contract at UFC 240. Following Cyborg’s victory over Felicia Spencer, tensions seemed to rise even further, when Cyborg (21-2) confronted White backstage after the win.
