In 1997, the UFC was set to touch down in Buffalo, N.Y. – but got a last-minute hiccup that wound up lasting nearly two decades. UFC 12 was supposed to take place in Buffalo. But the day before the event, the state of New York changed its laws and essentially banned MMA. That was a ban that stayed in place until the UFC finally returned in 2016 with UFC 205.
