LOS ANGELES – Sheymon Moraes scored his first UFC win Saturday night, defeating Matt Sayles by unanimous decision , and the emotions flowed afterward. The featherweight bout between Moraes (10-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) and Sayles (7-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC) was part of the UFC 227 preliminary card at Staples Center, which aired on FX following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of the pay-per-view. Moraes, who rebounded from a debut loss to Zabit Magomedsharipov last November, opened up during his post-fight interview about financial struggle, having to sleep at Blackhouse MMA gym and the love he has for his 15-month-old son. “It’s the best thing in the world,” Moraes said of being a father, as he tried to fight back tears.
