In the end, it was a crushing spinning backfist from de Andrade (24-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) that left Briones (16-6-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC) on the ground with the referee standing over him calling the fight off. The bantamweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 98 event at Mexico City Arena in Mexico City. It aired on FS1 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on FS1. Briones showed off an iron chin throughout the bout, eating serious shots from de Andrade round after round before the elbow and follow-up spinning backfist ended the fight at the 2:33 mark of Round 3.Even after Even after the fight-ending shot, Briones protested the stoppage.
