In his corner, after the first round of his co-main event fight against Charles Oliveira at UFC Portland on Saturday, former Bellator MMA lightweight champion Will Brooks told his corner, “I think I popped a rib.” Oliveira, who missed weight by a staggering 5.5 pounds at the event’s weigh-in on Friday, snapped Brooks’ nine-fight winning streak, scoring a TKO stoppage in the final round. Following the fight, Brooks confirmed that he had suffered a broken rib during the opening round of the fight.
