Not long after MMA was legalized in New York , WSOF officials announced a bold NBC-televised New Year’s Eve card to be held in the Big Apple. While some may see the move as a challenging one, WSOF CEO Carlos Silva approaches it differently. If anything, Silva believes the late afternoon Saturday event will benefit from the festivities in one of the world’s busiest cities. “I know a lot of people do a lot of things on New Year’s Eve, but New York City is one of those things,” Silva told MMAjunkie. “And if you’re headed down to the city, or you live around it or you’re going to spend your New Year’s Eve night in New York City, 4-to-6 in the afternoon is a way to kick off that evening.
