Masvidal (30-11 MMA, 7-4 UFC), who outpointed Ross Pearson (29-12 MMA, 6-5 UFC) to snap a two-fight skid on the FS2 prelims at Philips Arena in Atlanta, said he wanted to face Matt Brown (20-15 MMA, 13-9 UFC) over Ellenberger (31-11 MMA, 9-8 UFC) because “he’s (mean-mugging) wherever he goes; I just want to show him he’s not as tough as he thinks he is.” But then Ellenberger stopped Brown with a kick to the body on the pay-per-view main card, in the process halting a 1-5 skid that most certainly would have led to a pink slip had the fight gone the other way.
