Filed under: News , UFC , Videos Valentina Shevchenko got the call to the octagon on slightly more than one week’s notice and had a tough task ahead of her at UFC on FOX 17 in veteran bantamweight Sarah Kaufman . The fight, which took place Dec. 19, 2015 on the FS1-televised prelims from Amway Center in Orlando, Fla., was Shevchenko’s (12-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) return from 10 months out of action, while Kaufman (17-4 MMA, 1-2 UFC) was coming off a submission loss to Alexis Davis in her prior fight. Shevchenko repeatedly took the fight to the clinch, where her dirty boxing and muay Thai techniques kept Kaufman from getting going offensively. For most of the bout, she controlled the action. Kaufman scored a takedown late in the third round and advanced to mount but couldn’t do much with the position before time ran out.
