Heading into his Wednesday middleweight bout at UFC Fight Night 91 against the favored Josh Samman (12-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC), Boetsch (19-10 MMA, 10-9 UFC) had lost three straight and six of eight. The way he was figuring it, if things went the way most people thought they’d go on paper, Boetsch was likely to be looking for a new place to fight. But Boetsch is no stranger to surprising people.
