Alberto Mina Alberto Mina has never been one to demand an active fight schedule. Since his May 2005 professional debut, the UFC welterweight has competed just 12 times, and he’s perfectly fine with that, he said. Mina (12-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) on Thursday will compete in just his fourth bout in the past five years, when he takes on Mike Pyle (27-11-1 MMA, 10-6 UFC) in the UFC Fight Pass-streamed UFC Fight Night 90 event at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. At 34, Mina knows he’s not a young man anymore. His primary source of income doesn’t come from stepping in the octagon, he said, which is why he’s able to approach his career more methodically than others. “Fighting for me is above and beyond just money,” Mina told MMAjunkie.
