Takedowns were the deciding factor in tonight’s CES MMA 36 main event between Nate Andrews and Luis Muro, which aired on AXS TV at Twin River Casino in Lincoln, RI. The final takedown of the fight went to Andrews (9-1) in the third round. He managed to use that advantage to take Muro’s (4-2) back and secure the victory in the lightweight bout by rear-naked choke at the 1:59 mark of Round 3. Andrews almost ended the fight abruptly in the first round when he landed in mount off an early scramble. He synched in a guillotine choke, which may or may not have caused a tap from his opponent, but ultimately was unable to get the finish and the action spilt over into a second frame. Opening-round success from his opponent didn’t deter Muro’s confidence in the grappling department.
