Sergei Kharitonov Five years ago, a spat between UFC President Dana White and the management firm Golden Glory led to the release of several fighters under contract with the promotion’s parent company, Zuffa LLC. Heavyweight Alistair Overeem was a high-profile casualty of the fight, as was his brother, Valentijn Overeem, along with former Strikeforce women’s bantamweight champ Marloes Coenen and John-Olav Einemo. Overeem later left Golden Glory and then sued the team, spurring a countersuit . The two sides later settled, with Overeem signing with the UFC. Meanwhile, a lesser-known victim of the move, Sergei Kharitonov , was forced to ply his trade elsewhere. The Russian fighter, now 35, was released from his contract, which had been acquired by Zuffa.
