In Saturday’s featured UFC 197 preliminary-card bout, Pettis (14-2 MMA, 5-2 UFC) proved the superior striker and grappler, and he earned a unanimous-decision victory over Chris Kelades (9-3 MMA, 2-2 UFC). The FOX Sports 1-televised bout, which took place at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena prior to the pay-per-view main card, was Pettis’ first since he decided to do some of his training at Jackson-Wink MMA in New Mexico. His preparations at the super camp supplement his longtime work with Duke Roufus at Roufusport in Wisconsin. Pettis, who could move into the USA TODAY Sports/MMAjunkie MMA flyweight rankings with his victory over honorable mention Kelades, said the biggest benefit of training with Jackson-Wink MMA is the ability to work with an array of training partners. He said he needed some fresh looks after getting too comfortable with the fighting styles of his Roufusport teammates
