Filed under: News , UFC Emotions ran high for the contestants on Week 3 of “Dancing with the Stars,” and Paige VanZant used the week’s theme to help get a message out. For “Most Memorable Year” week on Season 22 of the show, the 22-year-old UFC strawweight chose 2014 because that was the year she made her UFC debut with a third-round TKO win. But rather than just leaving it with, “I made my UFC debut, won the fight, and got a $50,000 bonus,” VanZant used the platform to also speak out against bullying. VanZant talks about being bullied in school In a pre-taped video package ahead of her live paso doble with pro partner Mark Ballas, VanZant said she was drawn to take up fighting in part because of bullying she experienced in high school. Without that, she might not have found MMA, which led to the UFC, which obviously led to “Dancing with the Stars.” VanZant’s paso doble with Ballas picked up a 23/30 from the judges – two eights and a seven – which wound up being the third best score on the episode and put her tied for second overall after three weeks
