The former two-time welterweight champ fought Floyd Mayweather in what “Money” said would be his retirement bout and has long been featured in big-time boxing cards. Berto’s father taught MMA and fought professionally in the sport, and his brother, James Edson Berto, competed for Strikeforce, EliteXC and Bellator. The boxer has become a friend of UFC featherweight champ Conor McGregor (19-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) and said the Irishman is ready to step back into the octagon following his UFC 196 submission loss to Nate Diaz (19-10 MMA, 14-8 UFC) earlier this month. “I talked to him actually like three days ago, man,” Berto told TMZ Sports. “He’s doing all right.
