Matt Schnell (9-2) had hoped to fight for the Legacy FC flyweight title. Instead, he had to settle for taking home the promotion’s interim belt. Schnell scored an impressive first-round submission win over Klayton Mai (8-2) in the headlining bout of Friday’s Legacy FC 52 event, which took place at Golden Nugget Lake Charles in Lake Charles, La., and aired on AXS TV. Schnell scored first, landing a right hand that sent his opponent to the floor. Mai actually recovered quickly, slipping away from his opponent as they scrambled and moving to the top.
