But then, after a year off, he came back and knocked out Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in Brazil. And while some may have written that off as a fluke, Mir seemed to put that talk to rest his next time out. In the main event of UFC Fight Night 71 this past July in San Diego, Mir stood toe-to-toe with fellow big man Todd Duffee – something not many expected out of him, given he had a distinct advantage on the ground. But instead, Mir traded with Duffee and after they both staggered each other, it was Mir who landed a single punch that put Duffee face first into the canvas for his second straight “Performance of the Night” bonus and an affirmation that he was back as a threat in the UFC’s heavyweight division
