For UFC 196’s losing competitors, however, they can take solace in the fact they participated in one of the most memorable pay-per-view events in recent memory on Saturday at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena. Conor McGregor (19-3 MMA, 7-1 UFC) suffered the first loss of his UFC career when Nate Diaz (19-10 MMA, 14-8 UFC) caught with a second-round submission in the welterweight headliner. Prior to that, Holly Holm (10-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) tasted defeat for the first time in her MMA when she dropped the women’s bantamweight title to Miesha Tate (18-5 MMA, 5-2 UFC) in dramatic fashion. Additionally, Gian Villante (14-7 MMA, 4-4 UFC), Tom Lawlor (10-6 MMA, 6-5 UFC) and Valentina Shevchenko (12-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) were sent to the losers’ circle in relatively decisive fashion
