Cheick Kongo Add Cheick Kongo ’s name to the list of Bellator fighters concerned about the future of the promotion’s heavyweight title. Kongo (23-10-2 MMA, 5-2 BMMA) hopes a victory against Vinicius Queiroz (8-3 MMA, 3-1 BMMA) on Friday at Bellator 150 will put him in the championship discussion. However, it’s difficult to find a resolution to that discussion when the current titleholder hasn’t fought under the Bellator banner in nearly two years. Undefeated champ Vitaly Minakov (17-0 MMA, 5-0 BMMA) appears to be at contractual odds with Bellator, and although company president Scott Coker is optimistic a resolution will come soon, Kongo said the wait shouldn’t go on much longer.
