Augusto Mendes This past week has been a whirlwind for Augusto Mendes – “a crazy last days,” as “Tanquinho” put it. On Thursday UFC officials confirmed an injury forced Mendes (5-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) out of a UFC Fight Night 81 bout with fellow featherweight Charles Rosa (10-2 MMA, 1-2 UFC), who now meets replacement Kyle Bochniak (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) instead. UFC Fight Night 81 takes place Sunday at TD Garden in Boston and airs on FOX Sports 1. The event was supposed to mark the promotional debut of Mendes, a highly regarded jiu-jitsu specialist had some legit buzz heading into the card. But just a few days after his UFC debut was announced, the 32-year-old was forced off the card. He detailed the series of events in a Facebook post, in which he said he suffered a training injury but also confirmed he’ll get another shot in the UFC: If you’d like to see some of Mendes’ handy work, check out the highlights from his recent Legacy FC 43 win over Donald Williams: For more on UFC Fight Night 81 , stay tuned to the UFC Rumors section of the site.
