In a thorough interview with ESPN The Magazine – a portion of which was released on Monday – Rousey finally opened up about her recent title loss at UFC 193. After a reign of dominance that made her a mainstream star and the UFC’s biggest star, Rousey (12-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) suffered an embarrassing second-round head-kick loss to Holly Holm (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) at this month’s pay-per-view stadium show in Australia. Holm, a former pro boxer, simply outclassed her Olympic-medalist opponent and repeatedly tagged her with strikes, knocking out some of Rousey’s teeth and cutting the inside of her mouth. The once-dominant champion – one who had defeated 11 of 12 opponents in the first round, including nine in a minute or less – looked downright lost in the matchup.
