It appears there’s another suitor interested in Benson Henderson when he hits the free agent market. After one Asia-based promotion floated a $200,000 contract offer , Bellator President Scott Coker said the Viacom-owned promotion would be happy to acquire the ex-UFC lightweight champ – if he’s available. “Any time a fighter like Benson becomes available, of course we’re interested, but I don’t know his contract status,” Coker told MMAjunkie Radio. “I think he’s still under contract, and until I hear differently, we’re not going to do this the wrong way.” While Henderson fulfilled the final obligation on his most recent UFC contract with a decision over Jorge Masvidal at this past Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 79, he isn’t immediately free to entertain other offers. The UFC’s standard contract gives it an exclusive period in which it can negotiate with a fighter before a non-exclusive period allows them to receive offers from other promotions with the industry-leader retaining the right to match those offers.
