Paige VanZant Paige VanZant is not stressing about being rushed into a UFC strawweight championship fight if she defeats Rose Namajunas at UFC Fight Night 80. Ever since she made her octagon debut in November 2014, VanZant has been the target of title shot discussion. She’s viewed as an inevitable challenger to current 115-pound champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk, but at 21 and with just seven pro fights, there’s concern that opportunity could come along too early in her career. VanZant (6-1 MMA, 3-0 UFC) has always made a point of wanting to take the slow and steady approach toward a title fight. However, a win over Namajunas (3-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC), who competed in the inaugural UFC strawweight title fight against Carla Esparza, could put her on the fast track and accelerate her path to the top. “12 Gauge” said she’s not worried about the fallout and potential opportunity a victory at UFC Fight Night 80 will bring, she’s just focused on another successful performance
