What it looked like, if we’re being honest, was the last fight on the card, placed there by the shifting tides of chance. Then Louis Smolka and Paddy Holohan marched into the cage and went buck wild on one another for two frantic rounds before Smolka ratcheted on the rear-naked choke . By the end it actually felt, somehow, like a real main event. It also felt like exactly the kind of showcase the flyweight division needed in order to remind us that it’s worth keeping around, which is kind of weird, seeing as how it only got that showcase as the result of others’ misfortune
