Daniel Cormier By the time Saturday’s UFC 192 main event was over, Daniel Cormier and Alexander Gustafsson stood there in the cage looking like two men who had been thrown from the same moving vehicle, yet were somehow grateful for the experience. And to hear the UFC light-heavyweight champion Cormier (17-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) tell it after he was declared the winner via split decision in the pay-per-view bout, that wasn’t so far from the truth. In his post-fight interview at Houston’s Toyota Center, the champ thanked Gustafsson (16-4 MMA, 8-4 UFC) for making him “a better man” and a better fighter by the end of their five-round slugfest (watch the Cormier vs. Gustafsson video highlights ), as if the nicest thing anyone had ever done for him was punch and knee him until his face swelled up like a misshapen beachball
