Ortiz took home $300,000 in disclosed pay despite his first-round title loss to reigning light-heavyweight titleholder Liam McGeary (11-0 MMA, 8-0 BMMA), who earned a flat $50,000 with no win bonus. MMAjunkie recently requested and today obtained the official disclosed paydays from the California State Athletic Commission. The night’s other top earner, Phil Davis (15-3 MMA, 2-0 BMMA), picked up victories over replacement Francis Carmont (24-11 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) and Emanuel Newton (25-9-1 MMA, 8-3 BMMA) to win the organization’s single-night light-heavyweight tournament. Davis, fighting for the first time since leaving the UFC, earned $130,000.
