Brandon Girtz and Melvin Guillard Melvin Guillard was forced to undergo surgery on his “shattered” right hand following an unsuccessful Bellator debut this past month. That surgery is complete, and Guillard proved as much when he posted a graphic photo of his hand on Instagram , loaded with pins and stitches, after the procedure was done. Guillard’s (34-14-2 MMA, 0-1 BMMA) Bellator debut did not go according to plan. The former UFC lightweight contender dropped a split decision to handpicked opponent Brandon Girtz (13-4 MMA, 5-3 BMMA) in the main event of Bellator 141 for his third defeat in four fights. ( Check out the Bellator 141 highlights .) Girtz’s combination of punching power and explosive takedowns gave Guillard fits for the majority of the contest.
