Demian Maia RIO DE JANEIRO – The good news for Neil Magny was that his fight with Demian Maia started on the feet. The bad news was that it didn’t stay there for long. As soon as hit the floor he got a free lesson in submission grappling by one of the best jiu-jitsu practitioners in MMA. The end result was a dominant performance for Maia (21-6 MMA, 15-6 UFC), who submitted Magny (15-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC) with a rear-naked choke at the 2:52 mark of Round 2. The welterweight bout closed out the preliminary card of today’s UFC 190 event at HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro. It aired on FOX Sports 1 following additional prelims on UFC Fight Pass and ahead of a main card on pay-per-view.
