Sicilia (15-5 MMA, 5-4 UFC) was angling for a striking combination in the first round when the injury occurred, and from there, he focused on grappling his opponent. “I got this pineapple coming out of my leg now,” he said after his decision win on the FOX Sports 1 preliminary card of UFC Fight Night 72 at San Diego’s Valley View Casino. “I may want to get it checked out to see if there’s a hairline fracture. That took a little pep out of my step, so I just had to go to plan B and grapple with him. “We train to win, so I had to find a way to win.” Sicilia originally was scheduled to meet striker Doo Ho Choi, but the South Korean wound up bowing out of the event due to injury.
