And he knows of at least one potential bout that could help get him there. On Sunday, Thompson (11-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) made the most of his first headlining opportunity and scored a first-round knockout of vet Jake Ellenberger (30-10 MMA, 9-6 UFC) via head head kick and punches at The Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale. The FOX Sports 1-televised bout, which took place at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena, concluded the UFC’s heavily promoted International Fight Week, and it gave Thompson an opportunity to move up the 170-pound ranks
