However, it sure beats what had become his usual post-fight routine. On Saturday’s UFC 189 preliminary card, which aired on FOX Sports 1, Howard (23-11 MMA, 7-6 UFC) defeated Cathal Pendred (17-3-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC), a grinder who won four straight fights – some controversially – with a style that’s light on theatrics. Despite being based in Dublin and fighting in front of a crowd full of Irish fans, Pendred was showered in boos. Howard, of course, was also on the receiving end of it. But following the decisive decision victory, which surprisingly came via a split call and not a unanimous one, Howard discussed the three-fight losing streak that it finally halted.
