Tiburcio was a heavy underdog against atomweight champion Michelle Waterson when they met at Invicta FC 10. But despite the long odds against a 6-1 favorite, Tiburcio, from Brazil, shocked “The Karate Hottie” with a third-round submission win. Tiburcio (9-2) said she was confident going into that fight, despite her underdog status. On Thursday, she puts her new belt on the line for the first time when she meets Ayaka Hamasaki (11-1) at Invicta FC 13.
