UFC 189’s main event is saved – for now. UFC officials announced tonight that Jose Aldo ’s much-discussed rib injury wouldn’t prevent him from competing at the July 11 event. However, Chad Mendes will prepare to compete in the event further complications hamper the scheduled featherweight title fight. Ever since news first broke that Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) had suffered an injury in training and may not be able to defend his 145-pound title against Conor McGregor (18-2 MMA, 5-0 UFC), the MMA world has been on the edge of its seat waiting for an official update.
