A German native, Sobotta made his UFC debut in 2009. But after losses to Paul Taylor, James Wilks and Amir Sadollah, he was quickly ushered out of the promotion. Sobotta then went unbeaten for six contests on the regional scene, including five submission victories, earning him another shot with the sport’s biggest promotion. Hein made the most of his opportunity, scoring a decision win over Pawel Pawlak in a May 2014 matchup.
