The two were set to face each other at EliteXC: Heat in October 2008. Shamrock (28-15-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA) suffered a cut the day of the event and had to be replaced by Seth Petruzelli at the last-minute. The result was a shocking 14 second knockout of the then undefeated Ferguson (4-2 MMA, 0-0 BMMA).
