Kelvin Gastelum MEXICO CITY – Kelvin Gastelum may not have wanted to fight at middleweight, but he showed that he can beat a tough veteran at the weight when he stopped Nate Marquardt at the end of Round 2 in their UFC 188 bout. The middleweight bout was part of the main card of today’s UFC 188 event at Mexico City Arena in Mexico City. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and UFC Fight Pass. Gastelum (11-1 MMA, 6-1 UFC) came out in Round 1, pushing forward and clipping Marquardt (33-15-2 MMA, 11-8 UFC) after pushing him into the cage. Marquardt had trouble getting off with much offense as he dealt with the straight left hand and uppercut from Gastelum. Marquardt’s face was quickly marked up by the strikes of Gastelum, but he continued trying to make something happen by working off his own straight right hand
