Tecia Torres MEXICO CITY – Tecia Torres used takedowns and top control to edge out Angela Hill in a slow-paced bout that drew languid boos in each round, with even the most vocal detractors seeming to lose enthusiasm for the enterprise down the stretch. It wasn’t anybody’s idea of an exciting fight, but it was a clear victory for Torres (6-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC), who exploited Hill’s (2-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) deficiencies to win a unanimous decision victory (30-27, 30-27, 29-28). The women’s strawweight bout opened up the main card of today’s UFC 188 event at Mexico City Arena in Mexico City. It aired on pay-per-view following prelims on FX and UFC Fight Pass. Torres set the tone for this fight as she wasted little time looking for the takedown in the opening moments. Hill defended well against her early attempts, but was finally put on her back by a trip takedown that landed Torres in half-guard.
