Fabricio Werdum Fabricio Werdum has the chance to become the true UFC heavyweight champion this Saturday when he faces Cain Velasquez in the main event of UFC 188. Werdum (19-5-1 MMA, 7-2 UFC) captured the interim UFC title when he stopped Mark Hunt in the second round at UFC 180.  He was originally set to face “regular champion” Velasquez (13-1 MMA, 11-1 UFC) at the event before Velasquez was forced out of the event by an injury. The interim champ is on a fight-fight winning streak since returning to the UFC after a stint in Strikeforce
