NEW ORLEANS – Over three-rounds, Jake Collier and Ricardo Abreu slung heavy leather at close range, ignoring the impulse toward caution. Collier (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) was a bit wilder than his Brazilian counterpart, though, and it paid off with judges, who awarded him a split call over Abreu (5-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) The middleweight bout was part of the preliminary card of today’s UFC Fight Night 68 event at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans. It streamed on UFC Fight Pass ahead of additional prelims and a main card on FOX Sports 1. The final scorecards were 29-28 twice for Collier, who picked up his first UFC win after a TKO loss to “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 3” finalist Vitor Miranda.
