Wanderlei Silva Wanderlei Silva won a major victory in court today with a Nevada district judge throwing out the lifetime ban the Nevada State Athletic Commission handed down in early 2014. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported via Twitter that the judge did agree that the NSAC had jurisdiction over Silva despite his being an unlicensed athlete at the time but that there was not sufficient evidence to support a lifetime ban. Silva (35-12-1 MMA, 5-7 UFC) was handed the hefty punishment after he ran from a random drug test ahead of UFC 175. The former PRIDE champion admitted to taking a banned substance but said that it was a diuretic to help with the healing process from a wrist injury.
