A welterweight matchup between Jake Ellenberger (30-9) and Stephen Thompson (10-1) has been added to the UFC 189 fight card on July 11. UFC officials confirmed the bout first reported by ESPN on Thursday. Ellenberger is ranked ninth in the UFC’s 170-pound division. The 30-year-old was on the cusp of a title shot in 2013, but suffered three consecutive losses to Rory MacDonald , Robbie Lawler , and Kelvin Gastelum . He rebounded in his last outing by submitting Josh Koscheck at UFC 184 in February. He’s looking to build off the win when he faces Thompson in Las Vegas
