John Makdessi UFC lightweight John Makdessi  generally has good luck when he fights in his native Canada – but that doesn’t mean it’s a stress-free experience. “For me, this is what I’ve been working and striving for,” Makdessi told MMAjunkie Radio. “It’s a roller coaster ride. You try to stay positive and focused and get the job done.” After a loss to Alan Patrick in his most recent appearance, Makdessi, a member of Montreal’s famed Tristar team, tries to get back in the win column against promotional newcomer Shane Campbell. Makdessi (12-3 MMA, 5-3 UFC) originally was scheduled to fight Abel Trujillo (12-6 MMA, 3-2 UFC), but a broken arm forced Trujillo to withdraw from the event.
